I would just like to say a big thank you to Tarkan Ahmet and the team at Franklyn James (FJ), Bow for their excellent work in selling our 1 bed flat in Bow. We had several valuations done by other agents and Tarkan was by far the most enthusiastic about getting us a great price, he had recently sold similar flats in our development and across the road. I felt that Tarkan was an honest guy who I could trust and I found working with him enjoyable despite the stress of the situation. Tarkan also understood that we were not in a rush to sell as I was looking to transfer in my job 4 months later so he suggested we put it on the market at the upper end of the range and wait for a buyer. That said we did not need to wait long, our first viewing with a buyer from FJ database was the next day (Saturday) and we recieved a superb offer (98% of asking price) on the Monday! Unfortunately we had issues with that buyer but Tarkan did so much work trying to resolve this before we decided to put it back on the market. This time again we had a viewing next day (again from FJ database) and accepted the same price offer 2 days later. Tarkan has worked tirelessly to get us to exchange only 6 weeks since the memo of sale went out. Throught the sale process Tarkan has answered calls, texts and emails promptly, even outside of his working hours, which was really appreciated by us. If I was selling a property in East London again I would not hesitate to use Tarkan and FJ and highly recommend them to you.
Comment on agent fees
FJ fees were more competitive than some of the larger chains. Tarkan also put together an incentive plan should we not reach certain price thresholds and periods on the market. In the end these were not necessary as the flat sold very quickly for a price we were delighted with and therefore Tarkan fully deserved his fees. We were considering selling the flat ourselves through an online portal but I think Tarkan has worked very hard on our behalf to get us to exchange of contracts, something that is probably underestimated is just how much time and effort this takes. Tarkan also got us a better price than we could have negotiated ourselves as I think having a middle man to hide my rubbish poker face was important.
