I rented a property with Miller Hendry in 2013 with a friend. When viewing the property they were nice enough but it seemed like we were just a hassle to them (although property was directly across the street from the office.)
When signing the contract, there was little or no explanation, we were just left in the room to read through. We actually signed the contract as the member of staff had left the room. Upon her return she decided just to pretend that she witnessed the signatures.
When the end of our lease approached, we gave the written notice as required, expecting our deposit back in full as we left the flat in perfect condition. However, we discovered that the deposit was not lodged with Safe Deposit Scotland (or any similar association.) and the lanlord wanted to charge us 120GBP for cleaning. We left the flat spotless and considering the dirty condition it was in when we took over the lease, I was very disappointed.
