I contacted and left an enquiry with Freeman Forman via Rightmove about a 4 bed maisonette on De Cham Road, St Leonards. Having not heard the agent I telephoned them and eventually spoke to Julie Greenhow about the property. I was impressed with Julie's knowledge and advice about the property. I made it clear that before I saw the property, which hadn't received any offers and many viewings, that I wanted to know whether the seller would accept a reduced offer. Julie promised and gave assurances that she would contact and speak to the seller. Having not heard from Julie a few days later, I contacted her by e-mail and then tried to telephone her office. Julie did not get back to me. As I was very keen to view the property, and travel 80 miles, 2 hours, from London, After two more telephone calls to Freeman Forman I telephoned and spoke to a colleague to arrange a viewing. I was informed that Julie would get back to me but I never heard from her. I assumed that the viewing was going ahead and maybe with another agent, so I set out off from London and travelled to St Leonards. 60 miles in to my journey, I pulled in to a petrol station and heard a message from Julie informing me that the vendor was pulling the property off the market. From the message I believe that Julie had this knowledge from the previous day. I was so annoyed that I couldn't contact Julie as I was upset and disappointed with the overall poor service following my conversation with Julie, the fact that she didn't get in touch with me, and ignored my e-mails and messages that I left with her colleagues. I wasted time and money in getting to St Leonards. On the balance of probability I also wonder, following the poor service that I received, whether the seller also did not receive a brilliant service, similar to me, and the agent lost out on a sale? The lacklustre behaviour by Freeman Forman wouldn't happen with a property agent in London where estate agents are sharper and more customer focused.

Comment on agent fees
Had said that fees were a little higher than others but assured me he could get the best price possible. They got me ‚£20,000 more than any other agent even suggested putting it on the market for. DEFINITELY worth the extra in fees !!!

Freeman Forman's Battle office's service can only be summarized as inefficient, incompetent and ineffective. We have sold six or seven properties in the last 30 years, both in the UK and abroad, and we have never experienced such a disaster as Freeman Forman's "attempt" to sell ...
