The agents were very helpful when looking for a new property, but once we had set up the tenancy the attitude changed.
When we had the first house check after 3 months we were told that checks would be every 6 months. However we were contacted 3 months later and told we should be expecting another inspection.
Inspections lasted less than 2 minutes and staff were not helpful or willing to talk whilst at the property - they also wandered through the house with shoes on no offer to take them off.
when we reported issues such as peeling paint/ leaking toilet there was no rush to sort things out. when the toilet was leaking i had to ring three times over two weeks just to get them to pass our details to the plumber. then instead of passing our details on they instructed him to come straight over leaving me with a surprise visit.
Little care was taken over the fact that the delay in organizing a plumber meant that the carpet had been water damaged - we fixed this at our own cost.
Part way through the tenancy I moved out of the property after splitting up with my partner - we both informed whitegates via phone and email. I received a reply email saying they would be in contact if anything further was required - I received nothing further. 2 months later I received an email saying a home check was due - something which was very upsetting after having gone through such an upheaval. I immediately replied to the email asking why they were still contacting me only to receive no reply.
The staff were generally rude and unhelpful, there was no organisation between the staff and landlord and things only seemed to get done if the staff were pestered.
Definitely would not use whitegates in the future
