Overall my experience of the company was not great to say the least.
In one occassion a repair was made promptly, however in all other cases they were not made or made ineffectively. In particular the communal area had no lighitng (the lighting was controlled within the flats, half of which were vacant), this was not made aware before. And the intercom which had been described as working when I was viewing the property was not working.
The flat was not given in a clean manner, this was stated in the inventory, however Contempo Letting insisted the flat was 'professionally' cleaned despite evidence to the contrary. Upon leaving the flat was left in a cleaner state than found however the agency did try and withold some of my depsoit. After going through a dispute resolution service their 'professional' opinion was dismissed and the entire sum was returned. I would recommend all tenants in that position to dispute the deposit if the aformentioned company levies unnecessary charges, as this service is free, and the remaining monies are returned whilst the dispute is ongoing.
To add to this I could say that some basic customer service, and people skills were missing when dealing with the agency, they were quick to offer excuses (as I shall imagine the response below will show); and didn't show a willingness to come to a solution or commit to anything.
I was also charged £50 for a tenancy check, this was paid to a third party company. My understanding of the law is that this should be covered by the letting agency (I know the letting agency in question have a differing view, and I have not yet taken attempts to reclaim the money)
I also found it suspect that the Letting agency refused to give me the name of my Landlord, despite the legal requirement
I should add for fairness the landlord had furnished the flat well and asides from the dusty state I found the flat in, it was in good condition. http://tinyurl.com/pkw4b4y
