This property bureau rented me a house which during the winter proved to be absolutely insufficient as a winter let. Leaky windows, uninsulated tin roof, draft coming in from the windows and from the front door, a road full of potholes and not ploughed throughout the winter leading up to the property. This resulted to our car breaking down and us getting stuck on the hill for several weeks. Mice coming in from the walls. The worst was the mould however, the bathroom is built in a room with a wooden floor and walls, with a plastic mat that isn't even fastened properly. There is no fan and there's holes in the bathtub/shower cubicle, which has led to mould starting to destroy the bathroom floor and breaking apart the planks. You can smell mould when you enter the house.
At the time of the viewing, the agent gave us false information regarding the possibility of getting internet, which led to us being without phone and internet for months. We were also led astray by the property being falsely advertised as having "eco-credentials" due to having a small wind turbine fitted. However, if a property is uninsulated and with leakage and draft, it means that you will constantly need the heaters on and burning wood - not eco at all.
Complaining to them about this resulted in one thing - a notice to quit, a property agent writing personally, defending HIMSELF - no attempt to solve the situation or meet us halfway. We were also told by one of the property agents in the Stirling office that our rental property was nothing more than "a glorified shed" and that "they were happy to see the back of this property". Unprofessional and with no regard to us, the tenants.
Several months after the complaints, we still haven't received a courtesy visit, a phone call or a e-mail.
We are in the area to buy property and we are renting until we find something suitable. I will definitely NOT be using the Property Bureau for my future housing needs, and I can not for the life of me recommend it for anyone else either.
What agent could do to change your mind?
If the agent would have responded to us regarding our complaints, rather than just sending us a "notice to quit" and taken it seriously, we could have worked something out.
