Typically, when my girlfriend and I first began dealing with this agency they were very warm and welcoming (in hindsight it was clearly just a ruse as they only wanted our money). Initially, they dealt with our queries swiftly and I even managed to speak to Steve Slawson 'The Boss' a couple of times on the phone!
At this point I'd like to add that at no stage were we awkward or troublesome tenants during the period spent living at the property (i.e. rent was ALWAYS paid on time and we never caused any problems for either our neighbours or Belvoir as our agent). In short, we never gave Belvoir any reason to be awkward or unprofessional towards us.
However, as our tenancy progressed, their warming a timely fashion of dealing with any of our enquiries soon disappeared. On numerous occasions if/when we had a query directed to Belvoir I would always be told (normally by Melessa) that it would need to be dealt with by Steve. Naturally as their boss he is a busy man which resulted in either one of two things happening - 1)We never get a reply. 2)We would have to keep chasing them for an answer.
Lastly, we've decided to move to a different property (for completely unrelated reasons) so I promptly called Belvoir to let them know (I spoke with Melessa....again) and was told to mail Steve about it instead. It seems Steve is the ONLY person who can do ANYTHING at Belvoir and most annoyingly he is the one person who is NEVER available when you want/need to speak to him. Anyway, I mailed Steve directly and CC'd in the normal Belvoir Worcester e-mail address, just to be safe.
On the mail, I politely asked that he or someone at Belvoir get in-touch with me promptly to discuss final dates and moving-out procedure.....low and behold we never got a response. Considering this is quite an important process to go through you'd think they would be getting back to us quite quickly.
Anyway, so my girlfriend had to call their office to chase up about my mail and the woman on the phone (not Melessa this time, another random person) wasn't able to answer our questions but said she would need to speak to Steve. She put my girlfriend on hold while she spoke to Steve, then came back and relayed what he'd said. This happened several times during the same call. Surely it would have saved a lot of time and effort to just put my girlfriend straight through to him? Clearly, if he's there and has time to take a call from his colleague he can speak to one of his tenants regarding quite an important matter?
All-in-all (besides that first contact with them) we have found Belvoir Worcester to be extremely difficult to work with, unwilling to help and at times simply just unprofessional in the way they conduct their business.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!
