I was already aware of CJ hole's terrible reputation via the email that went viral suggesting landlords raise their rent prices, the protest outside their office, and having previously rented via another branch many years ago. Nether the less we found a property that we liked on the internet and thought we'd give them the benefit of the doubt, something that I will NEVER do again. long story short, we paid a holding deposit of ‚£518 for a property and were told that our references weren't good enough, despite being full time employed NHS workers that have let properties for the last 10 years. The flat we put a deposit down was obviously still being viewed by other people and was let out instantly after our references were rejected. We were then shown another couple of flats but again were rejected despite offering to pay the extra to have guarantors to make sure any prospective landlord was covered, to find out that they wouldn't accept us, I had to use any spare moment at work to chase him up for an answer, as with most people looking to rent a flat, we were looking as we needed a place to live and the longer it takes to find somewhere the more pressing the issue becomes, the agent clearly didn't understand the importance of the matter. After this we decided to go with ANY other letting company, the communication from the agent was incredibly unprofessional, and he appeared to have no customer service skills whatsoever, his only concern seemed to be taking money from us which has been proven by the fact that the agent hasn't responded to emails regarding the holding deposit. Obviously I will be aggressively pursuing the deposit, but moving house is an expensive pursuit and spending ‚£500 for someone to waste your time is incredibly frustrating, especially when finding a new home whilst working full time is pretty time critical. Definitely avoid dealing with this branch.
