Southside's organisational skills are terrible, they wasted our time, and I feel like they didn't prioritise us just because we are students.
We applied for 3 separate 2 bed properties, which we put in order of preference. After we found out we had been unsuccessful with the first, I called to make sure our application had been moved onto the second, as they had told us it would. It seemed it hadn't. After the so-called 5 days in which they would tell us whether or not we were successful, I called twice in one day and was told both times I would be called back, which I never was, until 8.30am on a Monday morning (!!!), when we were told it would be highly unlikely we would get this property because of the timescale when we wanted to move in (fair enough), so we moved onto the 3rd property which is where the most problems arised. I called after a few days of being moved onto that property to find out that, lo and behold, that was the first they had heard of us still wanting a flat. After multiple phone calls asking for updates and continually being told the person (Lynne?) processing our application was on the phone, on her lunch break, whatever, I was finally told we had been unsuccessful even though they were meant to have texted us both to say so.
They didn't seem to have that on record anywhere of what properties were on our list of preference (which we gave to them on paper) as we kept having to tell them where we wanted to apply for.
Southside have wasted our time, however I am particularly annoyed that we are the ones that have had to follow things up. That should be their job to do.
Even though the property viewings we organised seemed to go smoothly, it just went downhill from there.
Our impression of Southside as a company has changed from being respectable and trusted, to disorganised and basically just not worth the effort. We are continuing to look for properties with other letting agents.
