Unfortunately they conform to the stereotypical estate agent as being untrustworthy and will say anything to get a sale. I offered the full asking price for a flat which the agent previously said hadn't received much interest. Suddenly someone else also apparently offers the full asking price, but the agent said if I arranged my mortgage through Fox & Sons' financial consultant they would recommend my offer over the other person's. When I asked why, they said it was because they were able to process mortgage applications more quickly and as the seller was after a quick sale this would be better for them. I already had a mortgage arranged (which they knew) so couldn't see how this would be the case. I asked them to confirm in writing that they would only be recommending my offer if I arranged my mortgage, which of course they would not do as it's against estate agents' code of conduct. I was desparate to move so had no choice but to agree to arrange my mortgage through them and cancelled the mortgage offer I already had arranged. It came as no surprise that it took 2 months longer to exchange because of the need to reapply for a mortgage through their consultant...
