We chose Romans from 5 agents. There are a number of reasons why we were so impressed, as follows:
1 Their telephone was always answered within 1 ring and messages always got communicated, even where this tipped over to Romans call centre. Usually we got a call back within the hour.
2 Our valuation was carried out by the Assistant Manager, Matthew, rather than a "Valuation Agent" In itself this was a pleasant surprise and the valuation proved to be very accurate in terms of the price we sold for. Not an easy valuation for Matthew as very little property comes on the market in Swallowfield and nothing to compare with.
3 Their fee was a bit of a problem initially as they were the most expensive but they agreed to match the fee of the other agents, so - problem solved. They don't waste money on expensive "sales packs" but do provide quality selling details both online and in paper format. We were offered and accepted a 12 week contract so had nothing to lose and potentially all to gain. Our floor plan, energy evaluation, photos were all done in one visit, on a Friday, by Monday, our brochure was "on line" in draft format and then amended according to our comments.
4 Once valuation was completed, Matthew or Tony the Manager stay "hands on" along with their team. Everybody knows whats going on (I think they have a briefing meeting every morning).
5 2 of the team visited us and were therefore able to discuss our property "with knowledge" to potential buyers, Romans will also organise and host an "open day" although this didn't become necessary for us. Their marketing approach is tenacious and professional, they are truthful when they say "they like to sell houses".
6 Romans also have a "conveyancing team" and a "Move Manager" both of whom helped take away the pain and stress that usually comes with a house sale.
7 We sold, without a board, within about 5 weeks. Our sale has proved to be smooth and pain free although I think we are unusual as we have no chain, neither does our buyer.
8 Throughout, all the team were straight talking, realistic, experienced, professional and very thoroughly nice people. In our time, we have carried out numerous (20+) property transactions. This was undoubtedly the best experience.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
