I have rented in London for many years, Eddisons of 26 East Parade Leeds LS1 5BW are the least caring, incompetent and rude team of people that have ever come across. Our property appears to be going through a full repossession, as 30 tenants have been served a section 21 notice. Empathy is not possible from this bunch, every letter you get has a spelling mistake, they are dishonest, our building has been run into the ground, whilst they suck every last penny.
Having stayed in two properties, the first one we waited two months to get a shower door fixed, are current property has a broken window, and was dirty when we moved in, and this was agreed in the check in document. We also moved from one property of their to another and in releasing our deposit it took 18 days, despite us chasing them everyday, and handing back the property in better state than we received it in.
When we moved in we were not giving full keys to the building for 2 weeks, and were unable to get a rent reduction for the problems we encountered. It is a point to note that our building is in a rough area, we have had the door forced several times, there have been several muggings and post stolen and it took them three months to install lighting and fake CCTV (which they told us was real), giving no care for the tenants whatsoever.
That said we are outside of their actual geographic area, and properties that are closer to home, may be managed in a better way. A face to face conversation is always better, and if you email these guys, although you are getting an email trail, they will bog you down in repetitive replies for weeks. Try to phone them, although they will try to fob you off that they are always in meetings.
What agent could do to change your mind?
They could improve their telephone manner, they could treat their tenants like human beings and show some empathy. If they were to put themselves in the shoes of their customers, they would not accept the service that they give out, or the standards that they allow the housing for the tenants to live in.
Their actions prove that they are only in it for the money.
