Given completly wrong information about how much income we needed to be able to rent this house. 2 weeks from christmas and 6 months pregnant with a 2 year old, i paid them £500 to do referencing and take the house off the market. After we failed referencing, which they knew would happen, they then refused to give us any sort of refund. We got called liars. We needed a guarantor as we didn't earn enough between us, we were told our guarantor would only have to earn enough to make up the difference, as we were only a few thousand off this was easy for our guarantor. After paying all the fees we were then informed we had failed referencing as our guarantor had to earn enough to cover all the rent, in fact she had 2 earn 30 times the rent each year, which worked out at £48000, we were told none of this until after we had paid and now they refuse a refund. To make matters worse we got spoken to like absolute rubbish by horsham manager, avoid at all cost, complete con, wish i had read reviews before!
What agent could do to change your mind?
Not conned me out of ‚£500 2 weeks before christmas while 6 months pregnant!

Hamptons International provide all prospective tenants with a guide on the rental process, along with a referencing criteria to ensure the process is fully transparent and affordability can be assess before the referencing procedure is commenced. We are naturally disappointed that Laura believes this was not clearly stated on this occasion, however a full refund was actioned to ensure no financial loss was incurred.

Dear Mrs Nula, I am sorry to hear that you feel this way about Hamptons International. Our job is to work on behalf of our clients. The other party had already viewed the house prior to your offer being accepted. In line with the Estate Agents Act, when an offer is made, then this must be put to the client. Unfortunately the client chose the other party (after you were given an opportunity to compete). This is an unfortunate situation, not something that we ever instigate, merely something that ...
