We drove 600 miles from Northern Scotland to Purple Frog, Birmingham having let a flat for our daughter at start of university. We were then left for TWO and HALF HOURS standing on the street waiting for keys to arrive. Eventually the keys did arrive but they were the wrong ones. When she finally got into the flat it was utterly filthy. Human hair blocked the drains. Shower curtain disgusting with filth and grime. no drains working due to hair (plumber was supplied 2days later) . Windows screwed shut unable to open no smoke alarm working. I though that was illegal!! Fridge broken and leaking, reported it but has just been replaced after 3 months!! A long time to wait with inadequate facilities. Floors disgusting I had to clean them at least 6 TIMES!! walls filthy, grime everywhere, toilet vile. It was particularly infuriating as we had been paying for this place for over a week so they had plenty time to clean it after the last tenant. I asked for a cleaner but none ever turned up. My husband and myself had to book into a hotel close by for 3 nights and spend the next 3 days along with our daughter cleaning the flat. There was no bucket even and only a filthy broken mop,.No cutlery, crockery, nothing. We spend around £400 on these various necessities. We are paying around £650 a month for this one bed room bedsit. An appalling RIP OFF! A kind man called Neil did his very best to help us though it was not his responsibility he was merely helping out the agency and was so apologetic about the state of the place. He was on his hands and knees desperately trying to clear the severely blocked drains in her ensuite. The agents itself is chaotic. People everywhere hanging around looking for keys complaining about various things. Please DO NOT USE PURPLE FROG! I only say this for the sake of other students and their families. Please check out decent agents before you get stung!
What agent could do to change your mind?
Nothing they are a disorganised disgraceful rip off. They should have a monitoring system to check if flats have been cleaned after vacating them.

Hi Helen, I've been investigating the issues you and your daughter have experienced. We took over the block your daughter moved into from another agency and unfortunately things didn't go as smoothly as we would have liked.

I dont need to talk to you anymore or contact you anymore. I ve got my deposit back after a huge unnecesary fight. Thank god this horror finished. I just wish this agency shuts down and more people avoids stress and such harsh living conditions. In regards to the start of our tenancy I met with a number of law advisors, who advised us to walk away from the contract at the beginning of our tenancy and that we were completely free and able to do so.
