We are 3 Chinese students and rented a 2 bd flat from this company and paid the rent and deposit by Bankers Transfer. All transactions were through one of us only (Yi) so we assumed she would be the Lead Tenant. We were not given an inventory of the contents or condition of the flat until we left at the end of the tenancy. Soon after moving in, Adam started emailing Yi telling her he was bringing prospective 'buyers' round to view (usually at the week-end), fortunately, a friend told us he was in breach of the tenancy agreement so we were able to stop this infringement on our liberty. We told him about the damp in the bathroom and about the light bulbs that did not work but nothing was done. Before we left the flat, we cleaned it from top to bottom and also took photographs throughout, including the gas and electricity meters. The day we were to hand over the keys we again cleaned the flat and waited for Adam, however, another man arrived and told us he was there to make a report on the flat and that was all. We handed over the keys and left. Soon after we received a copy of this report together with the photographs that he had supposedly taken, the report stated that there were many things damaged in the flat as well as detritus throughout, which we told him
were false and we also pointed out that as we had not received an inventory on moving in there was no proof that we were responsible for the damage but he was welcome to see the photo's we had taken. He did not respond to us so we asked for the return of our deposit. This was over 3 months ago and we still have not received it. They told us that our deposit was lodged with the DPS but can't tell us what scheme it was lodged in - we did not sign a JDR Form either (Maria says she has no knowledge of a JDR Form), and now the DPS is telling us that they cannot deal with Yi or myself because we are not the Lead Tenant (the man who rented with us is listed as the Lead Tenant despite Adam and Maria never having met him let alone had any dealings with him and, he has since returned to China, I would not recommend this Agency to anyone under any circumstances.
