We marketed our property with various local agents prior to contracting with Foxtons. Without going into too much detail, I was very disappointed with previous agents who I found almost impossible to understand and was left feeling very frustrated! If fact, I actually found that on more than one occasion, I had to personally go in to their offices and demand explanations!
With the previous bad experiences, I was not filled with confidence when I first spoke to Foxtons' representative Mr James Murdock and was sure that this would be just another 'estate agent' that would take up hours of my time just to get to the point and I was not particularly looking forward to the experience. However, I must say, not only have I been pleasantly surprised, but James really has exceeded my expectations.
In our first conversation, I was very frank and perhaps not very conventional at all; James handled the situation extraordinarily well. He was very polite (but not patronizing), he listened (a lot of estate agents do not do this), he answered all of my questions in a direct, straight forward yet friendly and approachable manner.
In our opening conversation, James was good enough to assure me that he would always listen to us, that he would always endeavour to return our calls within a 24 hour time frame, that he would continue to always listen to us and to advise us throughout the contract. Needless to say, I was not impressed at this point as I had heard this all before - however, to James' credit, he upheld ALL of his promises and maintained honor to his word. Furthermore, not only did James listen to us, but he was brilliant at rolling out our feedback to his team and ensured that both himself and his team worked in uniform.
James has been a pleasure to work with. He has remained polite and professional at all times, yet has always been frank but approachable. His interpersonal and communication skills have been EXCELLENT as he has been able to switch from speaking with my father (who's approach and conduct is completely different from my own) to speaking to me with perfect ease and patience (he has often had to have the same conversations twice - sorry).
James and his team were very proactive throughout the entire process. James has kept us informed throughout the entire process right up to the point of exchange and completion - his personal communication and interest has been great, this hasn't just been a 'quick sale' but he has taken pride in his work and has been very supportive.
I wish we had gone straight to Foxtons in the first place - i would HIGHLY recommend - excellent communication, highly proactive, excellent service! Well done Foxtons and thank you very much.

Comment on agent fees
There was 0% fee offer on at the time of our sale - but after dealing with so many other agents, and seeing the way Foxtons work - very proactive and excellent communication - I would highly recommend; their fees may be higher than other local estate agents, but they are well worth it - you always know where you stand and what's happening; they are happy to chase and have ALWAYS returned my calls and kept me informed.

Whilst Foxtons fees are higher than some other estate agents, in our opinion, they worked incredibly hard and delivered the results others agents weren't able to and achieved a higher price for our property. You get what you pay for and we got a top notch service from Foxtons and were very happy with the results.

I understand that you pay a higher fee for a better service but, although happy with the service, I feel the fees are too far in excess of their competitors. If the fee remained higher than other agents but was lower than it currently is, the agency might find they attract far more custom whilst increasing their bottom line.
