I have been a tenant of Hancock's twice, the first as a student and second as a couple. The first time I was treated like a second class citizen who's point or complaints were ignored, while living in a property not raven fit for a battery hen. I lost count how many times I woke up in bed to find a letting agent standing above my bed showing new tenants around. Despite many complaints on not informing us of their intent to show the property and an ovation where over a hundred pounds went missing during one of these visits, they just looked down their noses at us.
Although having previous knowledge of Hancock a property that I wanted came available a year ago and I went for it, with the knowledge of what they would be like. However I thought it would be different as being a professional with my partner, but I was sadly wrong. On applying for the property I again felt like they were looking down their nose despite looking at a potential rental of £1500, however I pushed on with it and booked a viewing. On viewing the property we were coming to the end when the current tenants returned, surprised to see us, not surprisingly the tenants had no idea we were coming around........... an awkward moment. A few weeks later we asked for a second viewing to size things up for the move so we gave 4 days notice, as we waited out side the agent approached my first question to them was have you informed the tenants that we are coming around, to which he said yes!!! On entering the property we started to measure the lounge and continued upstairs to where I heard a noise, the current tenant came bursting out of the bathroom shouting and screaming that they were not informed and he is currently bathing his kid!! Again a sterling job by Hancock's
I only wish it ended there but to keep it short.......
2 months to wait for the shower to be fixed
Continuing wait for guttering to be fixed so stairs are no longer a water feature
Turning up despite rearranging new appointments
Lighting system to be fixed - still waiting
Wishing to extend contract............. no information
Being told my rent will go up for having an additional family member stay while mother is away.....
But on a positive if you do not need anything from them or have any issues they are fantastic
What agent could do to change your mind?
Be proactive, pass on information within their own office
