Avoid these idiots at all costs. Jo was as nice as pie when we signed up and promised the world, but that soon changed as soon as we'd signed on the dotted line.
When we moved in we were told that we would have particular furniture and Jo sent us photographs of the supposed furniture. However, upon moving in we found that none of the furniture was the furniture promised - they tried to fill the beautiful brand new flat with a rickety coffee table, a crap set of MDF drawers, a tiny faux leather sofa, a set of what can only be described as school science stools and an "orthopaedic" bed which had the least orthopaedic mattress I have ever seen/felt!!
I am quite sure they were trying to pocket money for themselves from the landlady!
We ended up disputing with them and after over a month (of us paying for a furnished flat) the stools, drawers and coffee table were changed to the ones promised (luckily I still had the text messages showing photos of what they had promised to put in the flat!)
They would not however change the sofa or the bed and I ended up asking them to take the bed out completely - we then had to buy our own at a cost of £500! We also asked if we could sell the horrendous sofa and buy one ourselves to leave when we moved out, they finally agreed and so we listed the sofa on eBay - it got a measly £30 - which shows how truly awful it was! we then bought another on eBay - which we left in there when we moved out (real leather and you could actually seat 2 people on it!)
Anyway after the initial shambles, we had a great 2 years there with minimal issues as nothing went wrong with the flat - thank god. However on moving out on 4th October - I asked for cityzen to meet us at the property to do the "check-out" - they did not turn up (yet charged me £100 "check-out" fee!)
On moving out, we touched up the paintwork and left the flat very clean except for missing the boiler-room carpet and the top of the extractor fan (to be honest I completely forgot about these!) There were a few other bits I knew about which simply would not come clean - such as a tiny amount of mould on the tile grouting in the shower - I scrubbed and scrubbed at this but it is simply inevitable after 2 years of living there - especially as the bathroom has no windows! also I used oven-pride in the oven but some grease on the tray simply would not budge.
They also photographed a scratch on the sofa - which considering we bought that sofa out of our own money, I cannot believe they have the audacity to do! and a mark on the blinds - which was there when they installed them (I had emailed cityzen straight away after they were installed to say this!)
Anyway regardless, I would obviously be happy to pay for a professional clean - but they have withheld £140 for this!!! - £60 for a carpet clean (for 100sqft of carpet!?) £70 for "further cleaning" and £10 for 1 lightbulb - and I find it completely unjust. The flat is about 500sqft and how it would cost £130 is beyond me! (my work office is cleaned spotlessly for £11 an hour!) I have tried to take this up with them but they're being extremely rude and will not see my point of view, nor allow me to arrange for a different (but as effective) clean to be done, they're not being clear about what "further cleaning" is involved and why it is costing so much!
Further to this it has now been 10 days since I requested our deposit back and they have emailed me 3 times asking for my bank details - regardless of the fact that each time I have sent my details across so I know they have them and this is an excuse!! I've told them that I'm overdrawn and need it back (big mistake as obviously they are going to take even longer now) apparently the transfer is being done by BACS today - but this is what they said on Friday last week too!!
We have been at the flat for just over 2 years at a cost of almost £30,000 and this is how they repay us.
I will NEVER EVER deal with these rude, incompetent morons again and have emailed the landlady in hong kong to tell her my thoughts on them too, fingers crossed she'll change agents! why she is lining their pockets I have no clue.
Comment on agent fees
‚£100 check out fee and ‚£130 cleaning fees are totally unjust and quite frankly disgusting.
