Upon speaking to the staff members Kat and Chantelle originally, I had no issue with the service. We arranged a viewing for the house we were interested in, and on the day, drove hours across the country as we were looking to relocate to Bristol from elsewhere. Some 20 minutes away from the viewing, we received a call telling us that they 'could not gain access to the property' and would have to rearrange. They weren't sure when for yet, but would let us know. Disappointing, but it happens.
We liked the look of this house so much and were so pleased to find somewhere that would accept us with our pets that we decided to go to the office to place a holding deposit anyway, during the late afternoon. We had already tried calling and received no answer so decided to go anyway. Google told us the branch was open until 5pm and the door was open so we went in. A young blonde woman told us they were closed. We explained that Google said they were open and she repeated 'we're closed.' We asked when they would next be open and she said again, 'sorry, we're closed,' her tone becoming even ruder. Obviously she had not listened to us. Upon looking at their website later we saw that the branch was indeed said to be open until 5pm.
A few days later we managed to get through over the phone to be told that they would not accept a holding deposit until after a viewing but would make a note that we were very interested so that we would be top of the list for viewings when they started. We were told to expect a call in a few days when the landlord was ready to commence viewings. Meanwhile the listing disappeared from Rightmove and Zoopla.
We received no phone call. The listing reappeared shortly afterwards so we visited the office, to be told by Chantelle that we were not the ideal tenants and it would be unlikely the landlord would accept us as there was a lot of interest from others. This was no surprise to us so we asked that our case be presented anyway. Chantelle said she would let us know about viewings and speak to the landlord. A few days later, the listing changed to 'let agreed' so we called to enquire. We were told it had indeed been let, and when we gave them our names and asked what had happened, they simply said that viewings had commenced and it had been let. They gave no real reason for 'forgetting' to contact us about viewings or speak tot he landlord. No apology was offered. One of the worst services we have ever received from a letting agent.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Maybe actually spoken to us and just told us from the start if they weren't going to arrange viewings for us. Or better yet, spoken to the landlord and got a clear yes or no.
