Overall I am highly dissatisfied with the service we received when renting with Hutton Parker. We moved in during July 2013 to a house with chairs, wardrobes and headboards that were broken, a large selection of mould in several bedrooms and bathrooms, a heating system that did not work in most of the downstairs rooms and even a few live wires left open to us above the boiler. Not an impressive start.
These problems were all stated in multiple emails or a survey we were to fill in at the start of our tenancy, and yet the majority of these were never fixed or took a lot of time and contact to get some level of help. When the builders came they were always very friendly and helpful, but often could not finish the job as they hadn't been given enough information about the problems and then often did not return for several weeks with no word of a reason to their long absence. A fact which appalled us when our home was broken into and our back door, which was no more than a piece of pliwood to start with, wasn't replaced for 2 weeks!
When the mould was finally addressed it was simply painted over and returned in a few months. In addition they had the audacity to blame our washing, which despite it being a wet winter and a home without a tumble drier, we werent allowed to dry the clothes inside the home.
Finally, as we came to the end of our tenancy we paid for a professional cleaning company to clean the home, mowed the lawn and had previously fixed several of the broken wardrobes and headboards mentioned above, leaving the home in a state far superior than how we had found it and, we believed in accordance with their wishes. Despite all this the company still feels the need to deduct over £100 from our full deposit, claiming they needed to mow the lawn and fix numerous items, most of which we had already told them were broken at the start of the year.
Hutton Parker has therefore been an extremely disappointing company and i would never recommend their services due to their complete lack of customer service, uninterest in their properties and clear lack of respect for their tenants.
Comment on agent fees
For the poor level of upkeep this property clearly did not warrant 8 tenants each paying ‚£425 per month, totalling ‚£3400 per month. It was a joke.
