Terrible customer service, incompetent staff, AVOID them!
This is the 3rd time I have tried to let a property through Romans, and I can safely say I have learned my lesson and will NEVER look at a property advertised by them again.
I recently arranged to view an apartment to let with them, after finally getting through to someone in the lettings department I got a viewing. I arrived at the property promptly only to find 3 other couples already there waiting for the agent, after chatting we discovered that they had booked us all to view the same property at the same time. After a 30 minute wait one of the couples got a telephone call from the agent saying they were stuck in traffic and didn\'t think they were going to make it and could we ask the tenant to show us around. You\'d think a letting agent would know Reading town quite well and know the traffic gets bad around the time and viewing and allow for this. Luckily the tenant was very friendly and helpful and agreed to show us around. In the end having spent almost an hour at the property the agent never showed up and only bothered contacting 1 of the 4 people at the viewing.
After the viewing I rang Romans and asked if I could make an offer on the property, however the person I was speaking to could not put me through to anyone in lettings so took my number and promised to get someone to ring me back before they closed. 3 days later I\'m still waiting for that telephone call.
To sum up Romans I would say the following:
- Extremely poor customer service
- Poor time management
- Lying and incompetent staff
Follow mine and most other peoples advice on here and avoid them, I know I will be in future.

Comment on agent fees
The only fees to comment on are the general fees that Romans charge every time the tenancy is renewed. We have seen this "Admin fee" rise from around £40 to well over £100. We note that this is a practice common with many Letting Agents; and which the Government are investigating..
