As far as letting agents go in London Fishneedwater were not terrible but there are some points which people should be aware of.
Firstly Fishneedwater were very demanding that we did everything very quickly, sometimes being forced to fill stuff out in less than 24hr turn around which is not easy when you have a full time job and want to take your time reading over documents. When the tables are turned however things happen very casually and can be slow. For instance requesting a callback after calling and the person is not available to speak (almost every time you call) almost never happens unless you come across annoyed and angry. We also experienced an occasion were we were told on the thursday that we would have our tenancy agreement by latest mid day monday. When this did not happen I called to find out what was happening to be told that only the director could deal with agreements and as off today he was on holiday for 2 weeks so we would not get our agreement until 2 days before move in. At this point I was told the agreement had not been drawn up yet and still needed to be sent to the landlord for agreement, which is odd considering they had time before now to get all this started whilst all other checks were happening. This means we would not have any time to review the agreement before actually moving in. In their defence they did end up sorting this for us within the next couple of days so we did have enough time to review the agreement but only after we had to make a fuss about it.
Finally now that the whole process is over I thought I had heard the last off fishneedwater, or estate agents in general, but instead I am still heard their name a lot. This is due to fishneedwater passing on my personal details to another company who are now emailing, calling and texting me regularly. I do not appreciate my details being passed on without my permission or even knowledge. If you want to keep your name, address, phone number and email and probably more private then I would consider making fishneedwater aware of this up front.

We're sorry that you were upset by us pushing to have forms filled out quickly. We do try to gain a commitment from tenants for our landlord client, as often people pull out and we're left having to carry out more viewings. Our comitment is of course with our client, so our actions are always based on their requirements to secure a committed tenant.
With regards to the information being passed on, you were sent an email telling you we pass your details to a third party RE utilities and you didn't respond, so we assumed you were happy for us to do this. With regards to the contract, looking at the database details it didn't take as much time as you have implied and you did have a chance to review details (and it's a pretty standard AST contract).
Anyway, good luck in your property and we hope you enjoy living there.
