These guys have been pushing for a review, so here it is. Matthew came to visit us, he was polite and professional but being young was over-ambitious (and maybe it's a company ploy to get you on board) drastically overvalued our house, £30k more than the next highest valuation. Of course we sold it for slightly less than the lowest valuation (and I think we had 5 valuations altogether). They didn't always answer the phone, our buyers said the first time they rang they couldn't get through, this could have meant the loss of a sale. We had it out with them and it only happened once again after that. The photography was okay but not amazing, communication was okay but not brilliant, we only got the update call for two weeks, Sue, although pleasant and helpful when you rang, got too busy after that, their fees are extortionate compared to most local agents but you probably get a slightly better service. We were a bit upset with them for taking the side of the buyer against us when we wanted to negotiate the sale of our fixtures and fittings but they finally complied which was a good thing because we had sold the house so cheaply we needed a bit for the expensive new fixtures and fittings that were in there. Overall, so-so, I have met a lot worse, but you pay a lot for it.
Comment on agent fees
Very expensive, may be in line with York where Preston Baker came from but this is humble Doncaster! Takes a lot to push them down at all and even then they won't move much. They ask for an awful lot for what they give. We paid our solicitor about half the amount and he did about twice as much work.

Firstly let me thank you for your feedback and apologies if you felt the service delivered by us was not to the expected level, I will investigate the matter. Preston Baker also trade in Leeds and Selby which have more similarities than York to Doncaster's market place and our fees are representative of the service and result we look to deliver. Preston Baker are ranked 7th I the entire UK for customer service and were voted the 'best small agency In the UK' by the Sunday times. Both testament to why we may charge more than other agents. I wish you all the best in your new home.
