WORST MANAGEMENT COMPANY I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS.
Our experience with Touchstone has only gotten worse as the year has gone on and we cannot wait to be rid of them.
Firstly, we had to pay absolutely extortionate admin fees - £150 each as well as 6 weeks rent as deposit. We had problems with paperwork etc and asked for discount of fees and were bluntly refused.
We were then passed from company to company - our contact details being thrown all over the place. We had one company for the viewing, another for the contracts, another for the check-in and then finally Touchstone (the worst of all).
The property was advertised as coming with parking - at check-in we asked the clerk how we could access a parking permit - he said there weren't any and that there was no guarantee of a parking space as people know that they can park in our car park and their car will not get clamped. FALSE ADVERTISING ON BEHALF OF TOUCHSTONE... Throughout the year I have had to park on street as the car park has been full with NON-RESIDENT cars.
Also at check-in the clerk sarcastically remarked that we could not open or close our wardrobe doors as they were on their last legs... He also took official photos of our check-in and never showed them to us so we now has the prospect of moving out with use of his photos which do not show a huge amount of problems with the flat prior to moving in.
The worst part of tenancy came in October 2013 when a huge amount of damp came through the ceiling of FIVE out of SIX rooms. We reported this to Touchstone immediately and nothing was done until December when they came into the flat and PAINTED OVER the damp. Hardly a solution. We carried on complaining into January, at which point we were forced to contact the council about the damp as nothing was being done. Touchstone kept telling us to open windows AND put on radiators. As students this was a completely ridiculous idea, considering we also live off a very expensive meter.
In February 2014, Touchstone attempted to shut us up by threatening to use the break clause in our tenancy and force us to move out after 6 months even though they didn't even know what was causing the damp - they just couldn't be bothered to fix it. After this THREAT, we pulled back our complaints and before we knew it it was MAY and we are still suffering from a huge amount of damp in the flat. We move out in 3 weeks and nothing has been done about the damp and the service by the company has been absolutely appalling. Katherine Young is one of the most ridiculous people I have ever dealt with, and is incredibly rude when talking on the phone. She constantly talks over you and says she understands but then proceeds to do absolutely nothing.
Absolute joke of a company which I would wish upon nobody to have as their landlord. All they want is to steal people's money.
Comment on agent fees
Extremely expensive for an utterly appalling service.
