We have spent many happy years in this house raising our family. The children went to Coombe Hill Primary and Junior schools, and there is excellent secondary provision within the Borough.
The road has an active Residents Association which organises several social events based around when the road is closed for ‘weeding and feeding’ of the communal planting. There is normally food and drink provided, entertainment for the children as well as a live band in the evening for the adults. Last year there was the first ‘Christmas Lights’ event. The group communicates via social media and you will see the Notice Board on the bend of the road. The Residents Association continues to grow and brings everyone together for the common good of the road and its inhabitants.
Just around the corner is Norbiton Parade with its shops and restaurants. The fishmonger and butcher are always willing to help with cooking tips and are happy to order in anything you may need for a special meal. The Fish Kitchen is our regular for fish and chips!
You will find many of your neighbours in the Black Horse, which is family and dog friendly and also a great place to catch up with friends over a meal. It organises lots of events so I am sure you will find something to suit and it is gradually becoming another vital element of community.
Richmond Park is a great asset to have on your doorstep. We went cycling round it when the kids were young, taught them how to fly kites and horse-ride and now use it for walking the dog. It is really a fantastic outdoor space and we continue to be amazed that you can see red and fallow deer, owls, rabbits and any number of wild birds every day of the year. Our children also made good use of the Thames learning how to kayak and canoe and using the tow path to walk, cycle and jog to Hampton Court or Teddington Lock.
For us, the house and area gave us everything we needed for a growing energetic family and allowed us to create unforgettable memories, but now it is time for our own adventure. The house has seen many celebrations whether it be birthdays, anniversaries, and even exam results and we are sure it will continue to provide a fun and joyful place for any new owner. Planning permission has recently been obtained for two storey side extension which would provide a fifth bedroom with en-suite which could be used for family, guests or live-in support or child-care, or alternatively the house could be configured as a 4-bed 2-bath house with an upstairs study for home working. The works would transform the internal and external appearance of the house, whilst still not encroaching onto those valuable storage areas of the garage and loft.
