Bangor is a university city located some 9 miles north of Caernarfon and 50 miles west of Chester. The A55 junctions at the city and gives good access to Anglesey, the coastal towns to the east, and the motorway network at Chester. The city also gives good access to the Snowdonia National Park and the tourist resort towns on the Llyn Peninsula and Anglesey. Bangor has a population of some 17,988 as at the 2011 Census but with a total population within the Bangor primary catchment area of more than 166,000.
This significant site is located some 2 miles south west of Bangor City Centre, just off Caernarfon Road, one of the main arterial routes into and out of the city.
