I don't think anyone is going to be happy with paying fees, however Marc presented me with an outline of what I was expected to pay and when they needed to be paid. Although I did go into the branch to pay, they do have the option to pay over the phone as a flexible option.

I agree the fees would be fine if there are 2 or more adult tenants. However there was only me, so I would have preferred the fees to reflect the fact that only one reference had to be carried out.
