Comment on agent fees
Our fees came in at ‚£504, for credit checks on 2 prospective tenants (‚£120 each), a contract fee (‚£240), and a Deposit Protection Scheme fee (‚£24). While this seems to be about par for the course around London, I still think it is excessive. Letting agents in general charge too much - credit checks don't cost ‚£120, and utilising a standard contract template doesn't cost ‚£240. While this doesn't reflect only on Grants - but on the private rental market as a whole - I can't in good conscience say that I was happy to fork out over ‚£500 for a couple of credit checks and a standard contract. On the other hand, I was very happy with the service I received, and if you can't escape the fees then Grants give you the best service for your cash.
