The fees charged by Martin&Wright are slightly lower than the average and therefore we are happy to pay them. Nevertheless, we still feel that in general inventory fees and renewal fees should be removed.

Due to being self-employed I suggested I'd pay on an advanced six-month rental basis; I then ask for the initial six months to be paid in advance and then for standard monthly rental payments to follow but, having already agreed (via a rushed telephone conversation with Mr Zaidman), to the above mentioned terms, my subsequent request was turned down by the Letting Agent manager, Mr Jay Hayden. I think a one-month deposit to be fairer than the requested Six Weeks Deposit. I was charged ‚£120 for Inventory Fee; ‚£140 for Agreement Fee; ‚£60 for Deposit Processing Charge. Rather expensive.

The house price and valuation was spot on for what it is and where it is. The estate agent fees were reasonable (as a rule across all estate agents they seem high to me however this wasn't a great surprise above the average)

What agent could do to change your mind?
If the agent would have liked to help, they could answer the phone, arrange to meet us and discuss our requirements and what would be best for the property and the tenants instead of leaving someone in completely unsatisfactory and extremely challenging living conditions.

I agree with you. As a tenant I was informed by Dexters it's at their discretion as to what they inform the landlord. As a result I lived in a porperty with a near broken boiler for 2 years. When the landlord moved back in - they complained the heating wouldn't work. I said this is correct and Dexters have all my outstanding complaints on this. It's much easier to talk to the landlord but easier to avoid dexters all together ...

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
