If you don't receive a response about a complaint within a reasonable timeframe (maybe 2 weeks) write to The Estate Agency Ombudsman (www.tpos.co.uk) and provided you prove that you've tried to resolve it with them directly they will investigate. ...

What a joke! Gave up and cancelled our viewing in the end as purple bricks had us jumping through hoops just to get to see the property. Set up an account, Choose a date, wait a bit more for an agent to tell you they can't do that day and time, they suggest another slot at a stupid time, couldn't be bothered in the end. ...

Hi Sorry to hear that. I think the business model of "we get paid our fee regardless of whether actually get your house sold" is likely the issue. I come from the US and the commissions estate agents charge are much higher than here, but they do a lot more for the money, are much hungrier and they get nothing if the house doesn't sell. I know people in the UK feel the 1.5% or whatever commission is very high, but you tend to get what you pay for. ...

The viewing was booked for Sunday on Friday night I received a text cancelling my viewing. Couldn't agree more. Exactly the same as our own situation. Our local expert, (or as I more appropriately call them, local comedian) has admitted they haven't a clue why our house hasn't sold but can't see that another agent would do any better.... Well they couldn't do any worse! :( ...
